1. How do you select and screen your caregivers?
Our caregivers' backgrounds are carefully scrutinized. We thoroughly check their employment and personal references, and conduct a criminal background search. Potential caregivers are interviewed by our professional Care Coordinating staff, followed by a second orientation session and interview. Throughout this process, all the information we acquire is used to make the best possible match between the older adult and caregiver.

We accept private payments by check or credit card. We can also help you with Long Term Care (LTC) insurance which often covers our services. In addition, we can help you determine eligibility for the Connecticut Home Care Program for Elders (CHCPE), a state and federally funded program administered by the Connecticut Department of Social Services (DSS) through various regional Connecticut non-profit agencies. Since its inception, Companions & Homemakers has proudly worked with these agencies to provide quality home care services to program participants.

8. Is Companions & Homemakers a member of any state or national overseeing body?

We are a member of the National Private Duty Association (NPDA), the nation's first association of private duty home care, including non-medical home care services. The NPDA's purpose is to enhance the strength and professionalism of private duty home care providers through public education and fostering of industry best practices. Membership into the NPDA is selective and requires adherence to high standards of care and professionalism. 10. Why should I choose Companions & Homemakers?

Companions & Homemakers knows exactly what you're going through. We were founded over 15 years ago based upon the sole concept of helping the elderly stay at home safely and comfortably for as long as they can. We are not a franchise, a registry, or a part of a national institutional conglomerate. On the contrary, we are a closely held Connecticut born and operated company. Through our hard work, demonstrated commitment to the elderly, and the invaluable support of our clients and associates, we have become a household name, and earned a fine reputation as Connecticut's most trusted and professional private provider of non-medical home care services.
