Don't Become an "Accidental Employer"

In this segment, Attorney Acevedo discusses the pitfalls of hiring caregivers privately versus using an employment-based homemaker-companion agency like C&H. A person hiring a caregiver privately (or through a “referral” agency) may become the caregiver’s employer of record and, as a result, may become responsible for payroll state and federal taxes, unemployment and workers’ compensation.
